Alisa showed me how to make links, but I haven't actually made any yet, so today I'm going to give it a try. The first link I will share is this one, from Abby, who told me about a fantastic interview with Robert Millet, broadcast on American Public Media. It was actually the perfect thing for the Relief Society lesson I taught today, all about how to not be afraid of talking about the church with others who are not LDS. The basis of my lesson was a talk by M. Russell Ballard, from last October's General Conference. Elder Holland's talk was also very useful, and excellent. He explains very clearly the LDS view of Jesus Christ as a physical being, which is different from some other Christian beliefs. It was a fun lesson to teach, because every Mormon girl has had an experience fielding questions from the curious, and all had stories to share.

Are you familiar with the Robert Millet and Greg Johnson dialogues? If so, what is your opinion?

I am aware of the dialogue and of their collaborative book, but have not heard any of their conversations or read the book. My opinion is that they are both trying to do something very sane and necessary: communicate. There is so much misinformation on both sides, that it is about time someone really had a conversation about what makes Mormons and Evangelicals different as well as how they are similar. Personally, I wish I knew more about what other religions believed, but do not want to be preached to. I would rather listen to a friendly intelligent conversation. If only there could be more dialogues, the world over, such as theirs, with more room for friendship and love than for hate and violence.
